Candidates who apply are reviewed and scheduled for interviews. Candidates who successfully pass an interview are given pre-employment background checks, reference checks, driver’s record checks, and drug screening and are required to provide fingerprints for State and Federal background checks.

Qualifications

Successful candidates who pass these requirements receive an introductory security presentation that explains the following:

  • Basic security guard principles
  • Washington State Laws that Apply to Security
  • Homeland Security Principles
  • Legal powers and limitations
  • Emergency response
  • Safety and accident prevention

Candidates are tested and evaluated on their knowledge, skills, abilities, education, personal characteristics, integrity, and references. Successful candidates are then given a conditional employment offer and will begin our training program. Candidates who demonstrate their ability to grasp the concepts and perform the duties to Merchant Patrols' high standards will become a member of the Merchant Patrol team
